At Mavericks Martial Arts, we teach several different styles of Martial Arts, each with their own benefits, so you’re sure to find one to suit you.

4-7 year olds: Mini Mavericks–  We have classes 4 times a week, designed specifically for this age group. Martial Arts is fantastic for children as it teaches them discipline and respect, improves confidence, co-ordination and fitness, and gives them a great opportunity to be energetic and active and socialise with other children.

8-12 year olds: Kids Beginners and Advanced Kickboxing– Classes run 5 times a week, with an extra sparring class for the Advanced kids. It follows the adult belt system so whatever level reached in kids will continue on in the adult program.

13 years+: Adults Beginners and Advanced Kickboxing Our most popular programme is Kickboxing which  is an energetic and enjoyable to learn Martial Art ideal for all-round fitness. Classes are split into Beginner and Advanced so you’re sure to find a level that’s right for you.

MMA (Mixed Martial Arts): MMA enjoyed a huge increase in popularity from TV shows such as the UFC, live cagefighting and movies such as Never Back Down and Warrior. Classes include elements of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai and wrestling, and incorporate standup, grappling, wrestling, strength and conditioning.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or BJJ: BJJ is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. Brazilian jiu-jitsu was formed from early 20th century Kodokan Judo ground fighting (Ne-Waza) fundamentals that were taught to Carlos Gracie by master Mitsuyo Maeda. Brazilian jiu-jitsu eventually came to be its own art through the experimentations, practices, and adaptation from the Judo knowledge of Carlos and Hélio Gracie, who then passed their knowledge on to their extended family.
